Surveying & Mapping
Use Cases
Land surveying
Survey drones generate high-resolution orthomosaic and detailed 3D models of areas where low-quality, outdated or even no data, are available. They thus enable high-accuracy cadastral maps to be produced quickly and easily, even in complex or difficult to access environments. Surveyors can also extract features from the images, such as signs, curbs, road markers, fire hydrants and drains.
Stockpile volumetric measurements
With 3D mapping software, it is also possible to obtain volumetric measurements from the very same images. This fast and inexpensive method of volume measurement is particularly useful to calculate stocks in mines and quarries for inventory or monitoring purposes.
Land management and development
Aerial images taken by drones greatly accelerate and simplify topographic surveys for land management and planning. This holds true for site scouting, allotment planning and design, as well as final construction of roads, buildings and utilities.
Corridor Mapping
Many surveying, engineering, utility and transportation companies are tasked with surveying along linear structures or locations, such as roads, railways, and power lines to assess an area where new infrastructure needs to be built. This type of Corridor Mapping can be best accomplished through the use of drone surveying methods that allow for fast and accurate data collection with far less manpower than traditional survey systems, which are timely, expensive, and even risky.
Urban planning
The development of increasingly dense and complex urban areas requires intensive planning and therefore time-consuming and expensive data collection. Thanks to drones, urban planners can collect large amounts of up-to-date data in a short period of time and with far less staff. The images produced in this way allow planners to examine the existing social and environmental conditions of the sites and consider the impact of different scenarios.
Benifits of UAV mapping
- Increase project valuation with technology and pre-planning options optimised for your specific needs.
- Improve project schedules with careful project planning, reliable data acquisition, and advanced processing systems.
- Eliminate costs associated with project rework with ISO 9001:2008-certified acquisition and processing procedures that ensure rigorous quality control before you receive the data.
- Reduce field crews and decrease risk with highly detailed data and visualisation software for desktop analysis.
- Increase revenue, constituent participation and funding with license-free data that allows you to map once, use many times.
- Maximise investment through additional analysis of value-added products, made possible from high-resolution imagery and lidar data.
